The Dramatist & More

L. Elliott, the writer and dramatist, has been crafting stories since she could first speak. As a child, she often preferred stories over the truth—mostly because the stories were more exciting or helped her avoid trouble. The only challenge was that, being an only child, she was the automatic suspect whenever something went missing. Despite this, she continued to weave her tales, even if they occasionally led to a sore behind. Eventually, she realized that storytelling wasn’t a bad thing—it just needed to be shared in the right way. And so, her love of storytelling was born.

For many years, short stories and plays were her go-to forms of expression. Now, L. Elliott has shifted her focus to writing novels, with three currently in development. She has also written several children's fiction books, including Where Are My Pancakes?—a story about an only child adjusting to the arrival of a new sibling, Griot’s Stories—a reflection on her love for storytelling as a child, and The Impossible Request—a tale about maintaining faith even when others doubt.

Ms. Elliott has five stage plays ready for production, with a few more in the works. She has been fortunate enough to see four of her plays performed on stages throughout the DMV area (Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia). Looking ahead, she hopes to bring these works back to the stage and share them with a broader audience in the next year or two. Her ultimate goal is to see her plays adapted into movies.
